Democracy Day: Ogun Councillor Olusola Victor Salutes APC Leaders, Reaffirms Commitment to Democratic Ideals

The Councillor representing Ward 14 in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon. Olusola Victor, has commended party leaders, stakeholders, and political elders in the local government for their unwavering commitment to sustaining democratic governance over the past 26 years.

Speaking in a Democracy Day message, Olusola described democracy as the most viable path to sustainable development, noting that the nation’s democratic journey has continued to strengthen institutions, promote accountability, and deepen citizens’ participation in governance.

The councillor specifically applauded several prominent leaders in Abeokuta North for their resilience, courage, and sacrifices in preserving the ideals of democracy and ensuring the stability of the political system at the grassroots level.

Among those he acknowledged were Engineer Adekunle Adesina, Chief Bode Mustapha, Alhaji Bakai Okedara, Mrs. Ojaronke Ogunremi, Hon. Yemi Adelani, Hon. Taiwo Oludotun, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi , Hon. Femi Adiro, Hon. Prince Babatunde Tella, Hon. Prince Ifekayode Akinbode, Hon. Olayiwola Ojodu, Prince Timmy, Dr. Bayowa Ibikunle, Alhaji Adesanya, and several other stakeholders whose contributions have helped sustain democratic governance in the local government.

According to him, the sacrifices and dedication of these leaders have strengthened the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta North and provided a solid foundation for effective leadership and community development.

“Today, as we celebrate Democracy Day, I salute our apex leaders, stakeholders, and party faithful whose resilience and bravery have sustained the core tenets of democracy for over 26 years,” Olusola said.

He added, “These leaders have remained steadfast in their commitment to good governance, political stability, and the development of our communities. Their contributions continue to inspire younger generations of leaders.”

The councillor emphasized that democracy remains one of Nigeria’s greatest achievements, as it guarantees citizens the right to freely choose their leaders and hold them accountable through periodic elections.

“Democracy has been our best choice in attaining sustainable development. One of our greatest legacies as a nation is that we have the freedom to choose those who preside over our affairs and when necessary, decide whether to retain or replace them every four years,” he stated.

Olusola therefore urged Nigerians to continue supporting democratic institutions, promoting peaceful political participation, and working collectively towards building a more prosperous and united nation, stressing that the gains of democracy must be protected and strengthened for future generations.
