The group also used the occasion to intensify its mobilisation for the emergence of Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon, popularly known as YAYI, as the next Governor of Ogun State in the 2027 election.
The call was made by the Chairman of the Central Coordinate Movement, Alhaji Taiwo Elewide, popularly known as Big Champion Akile Egbaland, while speaking on the significance of Isese Day and the need for residents to work together irrespective of their religious affiliations.
CCM is a grassroots socio-political movement with its structure spread across six local government areas in Ogun Central Senatorial District — Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North, Obafemi-Owode, Odeda, Ifo and Ewekoro.
According to Elewide, the celebration of Isese Day provides an opportunity for Nigerians, particularly residents of Ogun State, to appreciate the importance of cultural heritage while promoting tolerance among people of different faiths.
He stressed that religious differences should not become a source of division, arguing that Christians, Muslims and adherents of traditional African religion have important roles to play in building a peaceful and prosperous society.
Elewide urged members of the movement and residents across the state to respect one another’s religious convictions and embrace dialogue, understanding and peaceful coexistence.
«“Our cultural and religious differences should not divide us. We must learn to respect one another and recognise that peaceful coexistence is essential to the progress of Ogun State,” he said.»
Turning to the 2027 political landscape, the CCM chairman charged members of the movement to be proactive and ensure that they obtain and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the forthcoming elections.
He described the PVC as a critical instrument through which citizens can participate in choosing leaders and determining the political direction of the state.
Elewide urged CCM members not to wait until the election period before taking steps to ensure that they are properly registered and prepared to exercise their franchise.
He further declared the movement’s intention to mobilise its members and supporters towards the election of Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon YAYI as Governor of Ogun State in 2027.
According to him, the movement would continue its grassroots engagement across the six local government areas under its structure and work towards building support for the YAYI governorship ambition.
He called on members to remain united, disciplined and committed to the group’s political objectives, while encouraging them to engage residents peacefully and communicate the movement’s vision at the grassroots.
The CCM chairman maintained that political participation should go beyond campaign activities, stressing the need for eligible voters to understand the electoral process and actively participate in deciding who governs them.
He also used the occasion to appeal to political stakeholders in Ogun State to promote issue-based politics and avoid actions capable of creating unnecessary tension among residents.
As Isese Day 2026 is celebrated, the Central Coordinate Movement reiterated its commitment to peaceful coexistence among the various religious and cultural groups in Ogun State, while simultaneously strengthening its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Elewide concluded by urging CCM members to remain focused, ensure their voter credentials are in order and continue to mobilise peacefully as the state approaches another crucial electoral cycle.
The movement, he said, would remain committed to its grassroots structure across Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North, Obafemi-Owode, Odeda, Ifo and Ewekoro as it pursues its political objective ahead of 2027.
