The announcement was made by the SUG President of the institution, Comrade Temitope Afolabi, popularly known as BIG AFO, who disclosed that the award-winning artiste personally confirmed the date of his visit during discussions with the students’ leadership. According to him, the event is expected to be one of the biggest student gatherings on campus this year.
Speaking on the planned homecoming on Tuesday , Afolabi said Zlatan’s visit is more than just an entertainment event, noting that it is also meant to inspire students and celebrate excellence among young people.
“Zlatan gave us the official date yesterday that he will be coming to MAPOLY on July 1. This is a big moment for our school community because he is one of our own and his story is a source of inspiration to many students,” he said.
Zlatan Ibile, whose real name is Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, is a former student of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. He graduated from the institution in 2014 with a National Diploma in Business Administration, a background that has continued to endear him to students of the school and members of the MAPOLY community.
The SUG President said the event has been carefully designed as a celebration of resilience, success and hope, especially for students who look up to Zlatan as proof that greatness can emerge from the institution.
“The programme is tagged ‘Symbol of Hope, Homecoming’ because Zlatan’s journey shows that every MAPOLY student can dream big and achieve success through hard work, consistency and determination,” Afolabi stated.
The SUG President said the event will take place at the MAPOLY Sport Centre within the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic campus, where students are expected to gather in large numbers for the highly anticipated appearance of the singer. The SUG leadership noted that preparations are already in top gear to ensure a successful and orderly programme.
Afolabi also stressed that the event would be strictly for students of the institution, adding that only students with valid school identity cards would be granted entry into the venue. He urged students to come prepared and cooperate with security arrangements.
“This is strictly a students’ event, and entry will only be allowed with valid MAPOLY ID cards. We want to ensure proper organisation, safety and a smooth experience for everyone attending,” he added.
