The APC chairman made the declaration on Friday during a summit in Ward 12 where she expressed satisfaction with the unity, enthusiasm and turnout of party members across the ward.
She said the impressive attendance had strengthened her confidence in the party’s chances at the polls.
Recounting a conversation with an individual who suggested that the APC should “write Owu off” because Iyabo Obasanjo hails from the area, the chairman said the suggestion would not discourage the party.
“Someone told me we should write Owu off. I asked why, and he said Iyabo Obasanjo comes from Owu. I told him we are going to dust her in Owu. We will emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections,” she said.
The chairman disclosed that all 21 polling booths in the ward had pledged to mobilise massive votes for the APC, describing the commitment as a clear indication of the party’s grassroots strength.
“I appreciate all of you from Booth 1 to 21. The 21 polling booths have pledged massive votes for APC,” she said.
She commended the ward chairman Hon. Adejobi Olusanmi and other party leaders for their dedication, while urging them to ensure that every member is carried along in the party’s activities. “If we are together and united, what comes next is leadership. If we have Mr. Sunday Akintona as our leader, Sunday must carry everybody along,” she said.
The APC chairman also expressed delight at seeing party members whom she had initially thought might not attend the gathering.
“All those I thought wouldn’t be here, I met everyone here. I’m not a party chairman that doesn’t win elections. You have given me peace of mind with what you have done today,” she said.
She charged the ward executives to return to their various polling units and communities to intensify mobilisation ahead of the elections.
Faidat also expressed confidence in the electoral prospects of Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) as Governor of Ogun State, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu for Ogun Central Senatorial District, Hon. Olumide Osoba for the Abeokuta North/Obafemi-Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, and Hon. Babatunde Tella for the Abeokuta North State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, declaring that the candidates would emerge victorious.
Also speaking, the Councillor representing Ward 12, Hon. Moruf Ajibola, commended party members for their impressive turnout for the ward summit and urged them to remain united and committed to the party’s success in the forthcoming elections.
Ajibola further demonstrated his support for the ward by donating a public address system to assist with communication and mobilisation during party activities.
He also highlighted his previous empowerment initiatives, including the distribution of grinding machines to residents to support their businesses, as well as cash empowerment for some beneficiaries.
The councillor urged all party members to take the campaign to the grassroots and work collectively for victory.
“I want every one of us to work to ensure victory in the forthcoming election,” Ajibola said, as APC members reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the party’s structure across the ward and Abeokuta North Local Government.
The event attracted several prominent APC leaders and stakeholders. Those present included the Vice Chairman, Alhaji Saba Ganiu; Councillor representing ward 16 Hon.Lukman Adeogun, APC Secretary, Mrs Funmilayo Olaonipekun; and Treasurer, Chief Seun Akinpelu. Other Ward and local government leaders included Hon. Sunday Oluniyi Akintona, Mrs Olusola Fatunmbi Adebayo, Chief Monitoring Officer; Hon. Femi Akinbowale, Supervisor for Education; Hon. Maroof Ajibola, Councillor representing Ward 12, Ita-Oshin/Olomore; Hon. Solomon Akibo, Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government; Asiwaju Olusegun Obileye, Local Government Party Executive; and Hon. Sulaimon Karounwi, Party Executive.
