The lawmaker representing Abeokuta North State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Babatunde Tella, has joined families across Ogun State and beyond to celebrate fathers on the occasion of this year’s Father’s Day, describing them as pillars of strength, discipline and moral guidance in society.
Tella, who represents Abeokuta North and serves as Deputy Chief Whip of the Ogun State House of Assembly, said fathers play a vital role in shaping the future of children and ensuring stability in homes and communities.
He noted that the sacrifices, hard work and commitment of fathers deserve recognition and appreciation, especially at a time when family values remain critical to nation-building.
In a Father’s Day message made available to journalists on Sunday, the lawmaker commended fathers and father figures for their steadfast dedication to the upbringing of their children, saying their contributions often go beyond providing for the family.
According to him, fathers are not only providers but also mentors, protectors and role models whose influence helps shape responsible citizens.
“Fatherhood is a sacred responsibility that goes beyond breadwinning. It is about love, guidance, discipline, sacrifice and being a worthy example to the next generation.
“Today, we celebrate all fathers who continue to stand firm for their families and contribute meaningfully to the growth of our society.”
The lawmaker urged fathers to remain committed to raising children with strong moral values, respect for humanity and a sense of responsibility to their communities.
He stressed that the family remains the first institution of learning, adding that fathers must continue to nurture peace, unity and good character within the home.
Tella also called on young men and aspiring fathers to embrace the virtues of responsibility, hard work and integrity, noting that society would become better when more men take their roles in the family seriously.
He said fatherhood should be seen as an opportunity to build a legacy of honour, compassion and service rather than merely a social title.
He prayed for strength, wisdom and good health for fathers across Ogun State and Nigeria, while wishing them a memorable Father’s Day celebration.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to supporting policies and initiatives that promote family welfare, youth development and community progress in Abeokuta North and the state at large.
