Addressing journalists during a press briefing held on Thursday at Iwe Iroyin , Abeokuta the Co-Organiser of the Food Festival,Ogunyemi Opemipo described the event as more than just a regular show or market fair, emphasizing that it is a “celebration of food, culture, and connection.”
According to him, the festival aimed to create a space where people from all walks of life families, students, vendors, chefs, and visitors can come together to enjoy good food, music, and shared experiences.
“Last year’s edition showed us how powerful food can be in bringing people together, and this year we’re building on that energy in an even bigger way,” he said.
This year’s edition carries the theme “Taste the Culture,” reflecting the festival’s commitment to showcasing local flavors, creativity, and hospitality.
Opemipo explained that the theme goes beyond entertainment, positioning the event as a health-friendly initiative that emphasizes nutrition and food security.
“We want to encourage people to eat better, live better, and see food as a right, not a luxury,” he said.
The Co-Organiser noted that the 2025 edition is designed to be inclusive and affordable, ensuring that everyone, regardless of social class can participate and enjoy quality meals.
“Whether you’re a student, a market shopper, or a family coming out to have fun, there’ll be something good and affordable for you to eat,” he assured.
He also revealed that festival organizers are working closely with food vendors to make sure nutritious meals are available at reasonable prices, promoting both health and accessibility.
The initiative, he said, aligns with efforts to raise awareness about good nutrition and reduce hunger in the community.
Speaking on the importance of partnerships, Opemipo announced that FaztOrder will serve as the official logistics sponsor for the 2025 edition.
He added that tech-based company will manage delivery and vendor operations throughout the festival, ensuring smooth coordination .
Opemipo said the festival will feature over 50 food vendors showcasing a diverse range of cuisines from beloved local dishes to creative new recipes adding that guests can also look forward to live music performances, games, eating competitions, and fun pop-up activities that will keep the event lively throughout the day.
“It’s going to be a full day filled with good food, good music, and that warm Abeokuta energy that brings people together,” Opemipo said.
He expressed gratitude to partners, vendors, and media stakeholders for their continued support, reaffirming the festival’s mission to celebrate local culture and promote community bonding through food.
“For us, food is more than just something we eat, it’s what brings people together. It tells our story and keeps us healthy and happy,” he concluded.
