The Otileta I and Towulade of Owu Akinale, His Royal Majesty, on Friday extended heartfelt congratulations to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, Okukenu IV, as the revered monarch marks his 20th coronation anniversary.
In his message, the Towulade reflected on his long-standing relationship with the Alake and Egbaland, recalling his service two decades ago as President of the National Amalgamation of Lisabi Students and Youth Movement.
He noted that at the time, he was sponsored and invited to the palace by General Muhammad Buba Marwa the Asoludero of Egbaland, now Chairman of the NDLEA, to contribute to youth-focused engagements in Egbaland.
“Twenty years ago, I served Alake and Egbaland through youth leadership; today, twenty years after, I am privileged to sit on the throne as the king of Owu Akinale. People should understand that leadership is about service, not day-dreaming,” he stated, underscoring the value of dedication and community commitment.
Speaking further, the Towulade described Oba Gbadebo as a highly revered royal father whose two-decade reign has fostered progress, unity, and development across Egbaland. He commended the Alake’s exceptional leadership style—marked by wisdom, humility, and an unwavering passion for the wellbeing of his people.
According to him, Oba Gbadebo’s reign has been distinguished by peaceful coexistence among communities, consistent socioeconomic advancement, and enduring cultural preservation efforts that have strengthened the identity of Egbaland.
The Towulade also praised the Alake for his fatherly guidance and steadfast support for traditional institutions, noting that his influence has positively shaped governance and harmony among the Egba people.
He concluded with prayers for continued strength, divine wisdom, and many more impactful years on the throne for the Paramount Ruler as he continues to steer the affairs of Egbaland with dignity and grace.
