Albert was decorated on Thursday, September 17, 2026, during the formal launch of the initiative at Nawair-Ud-Deen Grammar School, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The initiative, supported by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, and the PCRC National Chairman, Asiwaju Ibrahim Mogaji, is designed to deepen community participation in school security and complement the efforts of the police and other security agencies.
Speaking at the event, the PCRC Chairman, Ogun State Command, Comrade Abdullahi Babatunde Lawal, said the initiative was in line with the IGP’s Safe School programme and represented a non-kinetic approach to addressing insecurity in schools.
Lawal said students, teachers, principals, head teachers and other school personnel had important roles to play in the security architecture, particularly by reporting suspicious activities to the police and relevant authorities.
“Security management is not only meant for uniformed officers alone. The students, principals, head teachers and teachers are also part of the security architecture,” he said.
He added that PCRC volunteers had been mobilised across the state to support school security through traffic management, safe crossing of students and monitoring of security situations around learning institutions.
Also speaking, Alhaja Balkis Olanrewaju Mogaji, wife of the PCRC National Chairman, said the initiative would expose children to security awareness from an early age and help them understand their responsibilities in creating safer communities.
PCRC Zone B Chairman, Ven. Dr Samson Kunle Popoola, said the programme was designed to move beyond advocacy to practical, community-based security interventions.
Popoola explained that the initiative would operate through PCRC units and divisions, area commands, state commands, zones and geopolitical structures to extend the programme to schools across the country.
He disclosed that the committee was also exploring the deployment of technology, including closed-circuit television cameras in selected schools, particularly in rural communities, to facilitate faster reporting of crimes and suspicious activities.
According to him, the PCRC had engaged the Ogun State Commissioner for Education and other stakeholders to secure their support for the initiative.
He, however, noted that while PCRC volunteers provide their services without salaries, government support would be required to provide infrastructure and other resources needed to sustain the programme.
Following his decoration as the Ogun State Ambassador for the Safe School Initiative, Dr Albert pledged to contribute his quota towards the success of the programme.
As part of his support, the Alberchin CEO donated 500 pieces of 60-leaf exercise books to the Ogun PCRC Command for distribution to schools within its operational areas.
Speaking on his interest in herbal medicine, Albert disclosed that his knowledge and involvement in the sector deepened after he travelled to China for advanced training in herbal medicine, where he spent 10 years.
