Yayi made the appeal during his visit to the palace of the Kabiyesi, Oba Dr. Adedapo Tejuosho, the Osile of Oke-Ona Egba, where he described himself as a son and family member of Oke-Ona.
The visit was attended by members of the Friends Network, traditional chiefs and Baales from the area.
The APC governorship candidate said Ogun State needed a leader who was prepared, focused and determined to translate a clear vision into tangible development across the state.
He said, “I am the man to take Ogun State to the next level. At this point in time, Ogun State needs a leader who is prepared, focused and determined, who has a vision to turn around the fortunes of this state.”
Yayi noted that while several individuals had been given opportunities to serve or govern Ogun State in the past, he was convinced that his leadership would bring about the desired transformation that would make the state work for everyone.
“I am seeking your total support. I am promising that if given the opportunity to serve you, my people of Oke-Ona and Ogun State by extension, I will work for you,” he said.
The senator, while highlighting some of the interventions recorded during his representation, said he had not waited for people to approach him before supporting development projects, particularly in the areas of roads , education.
“Nobody has ever come to me that I should do roads, schools and all that. Just recently in Ogun Central, we have constructed more than 40 roads. Even schools, Baptist Boys High School in Abeokuta, we just finished a 12-block classroom building,” Yayi stated.
He appealed to the people of Oke-Ona to support his aspiration as well as that of President Bola Tinubu.
“This is your son and I am going nowhere,” he declared, assuring the people that he would continue to identify with them and contribute to the development of the area.
Yayi also acknowledged the support and mobilisation efforts of the Friends Network, led by former governorship aspirant Hon. Kayode Tejuoso, while seeking continued cooperation from the traditional institution, community leaders and residents of Oke-Ona ahead of the 2027 general elections.
