APC Governorship Primary: Ogun About to Witness Great Leadership Under Yayi – Olopade

The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, has declared that Ogun State is on the verge of witnessing another era of impactful leadership with the emergence of Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

Olopade made the remarks on Thursday while addressing journalists at Centenary Hall, where results from the APC governorship primary election in Abeokuta South Local Government were collated and announced.

Speaking on the growing support for Senator Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, Olopade said he had long been convinced that the lawmaker possesses the leadership qualities required to move Ogun State forward.

His words : “Even before everybody saw it, we have been saying it that the best of the state will come when Yayi comes. For me, I thought the human angle, Yayi’s style of leadership, that had permeated the state and resonated everywhere for close to 11, 12 years was enough evidence to show that this is a man, a politician, a family man, a public persona that genuinely cares about the people.

“You know, many people can say they want to contest. You start wondering how you want to figure out their character. But we have spent close to 12 years closely monitoring Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, Yayi.

” And so when sometime early last year, I came out to publicly endorse him, it was based on the fact that I was sure that his intellect, apart from his local act, is what the state requires to move forward from Governor Dapo Abiodun”.

Harping on what the State will gain more in Yayi’s governance, Hon. Olopade said, “it’s more or less a situation of understanding the fact that Ogun State is about to be blessed with another great governor and leader.

His humility , respect for institutions and people, his love for the masses are the main ingredients that Yayi possess, that will continues to pave way for him in the society.

“He must continue to remain very kind and generous because generosity is what will lead you into building roads that are required for the economy to thrive. Generosity is what will lead you into building the capacity of young people”.

On Sports development, Olopade expressed confidence that Yayi would also be good in Sports sector.

“My forte, my industry is sports. I know Yayi will be good for sports.”
He enjoined all to join Sen. Adeola and the federal government to build a sporting state or a sporting nation within a nation that will make Ogun state not only the hub for sports, but that would empower thousands of young Ogun State indigenes. He concluded.
