APC Apex Leaders in Obafemi Owode Local Government Adopt Adenike Ademokun for 2027 House of Assembly Race

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obafemi Owode Local Government have formally adopted Mrs Adenike Ademokun as their preferred candidate for the Ogun State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The adoption was announced under the leadership of Engineer Babatunde Adesina, who spoke on behalf of the apex leadership of the party in the local government. According to him, the decision followed wide consultations and agreement among the stakeholders across the local government leadership.

Speaking during the announcement over the weekend, Adesina noted that Ademokun hails from Egbeda and has demonstrated loyalty and commitment to the party over the years. 

He explained that she contested the House of Assembly seat in2015, 2019 and 2023 but stepped down in the interest of party unity after appeals from leaders.

He said the apex leaders believe the time has come to reward her perseverance and dedication by rallying support behind her candidacy for the 2027 polls.  

The leaders expressed confidence that her emergence would strengthen the party’s chances of retaining the seat in the constituency.

News Channel gathered that Adebowale Oluwaseun, Abiola Qodri,Mujaidu Sulaiman and other seven aspirants stepped down in support of her candidacy in the interest of gender equality, noting that the constituency has been represented by men for years and that it is time to give a woman the opportunity to serve.

Other party leaders present at the adoption include Rt. Hon Tunji Egbetokun, Amb. Ogunsola Adesina, Chief Olude Emmanuel, Chief Wole Adesiji, Dr. Femi Akinbile, Hon. Olubode Bankole, Hon. Babajide Ladehinde and Aderinsola Dopemu, among others
