The visit was part of efforts to sympathise with the Hausa community in Ifon over the demise of Malam Babangida, which occurred at his country home. The delegation also paid a condolence visit to the striking Hausa leader in the area, Alhaji Sule Muhammed Sabo, to commiserate with him and the community on the loss.
Hon. Umar received the Chairman of Orolu Local Government, Hon. Abolade Nureni, popularly known as “One Day,” who joined the entourage to the residence of the deceased.
The visit underscored the importance of unity, peaceful coexistence and support for non-indigene communities within the local government.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Umar stated that the governorship aspirants of the party Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) is fully with the bereaved family and the Hausa community in this trying time, adding that his thoughts, prayers and support remain with them throughout the period of mourning.
Several party leaders and government officials were present during the condolence visit. They include the Chairman of Ayekale LCDA, Hon. Oladejo Kazeem; the Deputy State Youth Leader, Hon. Ibrahim Wasiu, also known as Opomulero; and the Local Government Party Chairman, Hon. Awolade Najeem.
During the visit, prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of the deceased, while words of comfort were extended to the bereaved family. The delegation urged them to take solace in God and remain steadfast during the period of mourning.
In a show of compassion and support, the Chairman of Orolu Local Government, Hon. Abolade Nureni, donated the sum of ₦50,000 to the widow of the deceased to assist the family during this difficult time.
Also present at the condolence visit was Malam Ibrahim Muhammed, an Executive Assistant to the Orolu Local Government Chairman on Non-Indigene Affairs, alongside other stakeholders, as the delegation reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive governance and the welfare of all residents in the local government area.
