Born on April 4, 1964, at Ajayi Memorial Hospital, Ebute-Metta West, Lagos, Dr. Olusanjo-Peters hails from the Olusanjo-Peters and Edun families of Agbole Idila-Erunwa, Ake, Abeokuta South, in Ogun State.
His aspiration for the Senate is deeply rooted in decades of academic excellence, global professional experience, agricultural innovation, and grassroots empowerment.
He began his education at United African Methodist Church Eleja Primary School II in Lagos before attending Odogbolu Grammar School, Ogun State. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Lagos, followed by a Master’s degree in Animal Science Education from the University of Ibadan in 1989. His academic journey culminated in a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Oxford University, Wellingham Campus, United Kingdom, in 1991.
After completing his studies, Dr. Olusanjo-Peters served as a Senior Public Environmental and Food Safety Inspector with the New York City Department of Health between 1995 and 2005, where he gained critical experience in public health regulation, environmental safety, and food standards.
His professional affiliations include the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology, the American Association of Cereal Chemists, the Institute of Food Technologists (USA), and the Royal Agricultural Society of England, positioning him as a globally respected authority in food systems and sustainable agriculture.
Between 1997 and 2004, he conducted extensive food security research across all 54 African countries, focusing on poverty alleviation, youth empowerment, rural development, sustainable agriculture, and biodiversity preservation. His research helped shape strategies aimed at improving food production and livelihoods among low-income earners and rural populations across the continent.
Upon returning to Nigeria, he founded Maspon Farms Nigeria Limited in 2007, now headquartered at Iyana Ikereku, Ilewo-Orile Junction, Abeokuta North, with operational branches in South Africa and the Republic of Benin. The organization has been recognized by both the Ogun State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria for advancing organic food security, job creation, and agribusiness development.
Through the African Farmers Summit and the All-African Farmers Empowerment Operations Summit (AAFEOS), organized annually in South Africa, Dr. Olusanjo-Peters has trained, inspired, and financially supported over 5,000 African farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs, helping them access soft loans, farmlands, and modern agricultural techniques.
Now seeking to translate his achievements into public service, Dr. Olusanjo-Peters says his Senate ambition is driven by a desire to deliver real economic growth, employment opportunities, and food security to the six local government areas within Ogun Central.
At the heart of his legislative agenda is a proposal to establish industrial organic farm estates in each local government area, aimed at engaging unemployed graduates and youths in large-scale production of oil palm, maize, cassava, cocoa, vegetables, beans, and watermelon. He plans to sponsor an Organic Food Security Appropriation Bill, already prepared, to support the initiative and ensure its sustainability.
He further pledged that agricultural produce from the estates would be sold at subsidized rates within the constituency, helping to reduce food costs, stimulate local economies, and promote healthier living through organic products.
Beyond agriculture, Dr. Olusanjo-Peters has outlined plans to create recreational and welfare facilities for elderly citizens aged 70 and above, including free transportation, meals, healthcare services, and leisure activities. He disclosed that an Elderly Citizens’ Rights Bill has also been drafted for presentation in the 2027 Senate.
According to him, the successful implementation of these initiatives will position Ogun Central as an investment destination, attract private sector participation, enhance infrastructure, strengthen security, expand healthcare and education, and uplift the overall wellbeing of residents.
He has also promised accessible and transparent representation, committing to town hall meetings, mobile offices, liaison centers across local governments, WhatsApp communication platforms, and direct constituency engagement.
“I am ready to listen, hear, and respond to the needs of my people. Together, we will build a Senate that works for every son and daughter of Ogun Central,” he declared.
As his campaign gathers momentum, Dr. Olusanjo-Peters is calling on residents of Ogun Central to support his bid, describing it as a mission to transform agriculture, empower citizens, protect the elderly, and secure a more prosperous future for Ogun State and Nigeria.
