Speaking during the 2025 Ogun East Women Conference she held in Sagamu on Thursday, Hon. Jekami charged women in the state to position themselves for political inclusion and leadership in Nigeria.
The Liaison Officer, said the gathering was not just another event but a deliberate step towards empowering women to take their rightful place in governance.
The theme of the conference was “Women in Leadership: Building Capacity, Enhancing Participation and Securing Tomorrow”,
Her words: “What we witnessed today is not just another gathering; it marks the birth of a movement. I am honored to stand before you as a servant, humbled by the trust placed in me.
“This program is a testament to the commitment of our governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, whose leadership reflects inclusiveness, women’s empowerment, and grassroots mobilization.
Hon. Jekami expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for giving her the opportunity to serve as a liaison officer, noting that the administration’s support for women’s empowerment continues to inspire initiatives such as the conference.
She added that women of Ogun East remain committed to building a society anchored on vision, honor, and substance, working hand-in-hand with government at all levels to secure a better future.
Meanwhile, the former Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Shakirat Madein (Rtd), called on political leaders in Nigeria to create opportunities for women to occupy top political offices, including the presidency and governorship positions across the states.
Her words “As a woman, I would love to see that happening not only at the state level but also at the federal level. The emergence of a woman as President of Nigeria is something we all look forward to.
“ Just a few days ago, I read in the papers that a group was proposing a woman to become the Awujale of Ijebu land. It may sound unusual, but we must remember that the late Queen Elizabeth successfully led the British kingdom for decades.
Also, the All Progressives Congress (APC), South/West Women Leader, Yetunde Adesanya charged women in the state to rise up to the task of leading in Nigeria.
She stressed women are in the right position to lead, adding that they have the capacity, just like the men, to take the nation to a greater height.
