The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Ogun State Branch, has inaugurated ESV Adeolu Emmanuel Adejimi as its 12th Chairman alongside a new set of executive council members for the 2025–2027 council year.
The well-attended ceremony, held in Abeokuta, brought together national and state stakeholders in the built environment, government representatives, members of the profession, and other dignitaries to celebrate a new chapter in the branch’s history.
Speaking during the ceremony, the National President of NIESV, ESV Adekunle Alonge, charged the newly inducted executive members to key into the strategic initiatives of the national body, emphasizing unity and shared purpose across all branches.
His words” The branch has no legal entity on its own, the branch cannot go to court. It’s important that you understand that we are all one and we work as one . You don’t have a legal entity on your own, there’s only one institution .I want to commend Ogun State branch for that.
“I want to emphasize that we will continue to work as one body . They’re going to be in this position for two years, it’s not permanent seat for anybody, the progress of the institution should be your priority .
“They’re way they do things years ago, we can no longer rely on that if we want to make progress.
“As leaders , you need to be creative, think for your members, think about what will make them to be better .
“Leadership is not a permanent seat. The progress of the institution must always take precedence.”
He commended the Ogun State Branch for its progress and urged the new officers to be innovative and responsive to the needs of their members.
The Chairman of the Occasion, ESV Abiodun Oni Samuel, in his remarks, underscored the pivotal role of estate surveyors and valuers in national development.
He praised Ogun State for its efforts in the housing sector under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, MFR, noting the government’s remarkable strides in providing affordable housing across the three senatorial districts.
“I commend the tireless efforts of our dear Governor, Prince DapoAbiodun, MFR.
Under his able leadership, we have witnessed remarkable initiatives aimed at providing housing across all senatorial districts in Ogun State.
“His unwavering commitment to addressing the housing deficit and enhancing the living standards of our citizens is not only commendable but also essential.
“Your vision to transform Ogun State into a hub of affordable housing and infrastructure development has not gone unnoticed. This institution supports your initiatives and looks forward to collaborating further as we work towards achieving these vital goals”.
He therefore encourage the newly inaugurated executives to remain steadfast their pursuit of excellence and ensure that their contributions will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the fellow citizens.
“As we move forward, I encourage each of you to embrace the challenges ahead with determination and resilience. Let us remain steadfast in our pursuit of excellence and ensure that our contributions continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our fellow citizens”.
The outgoing chairman, ESV Pastor Bola Orekoya, reflecting on his two-year tenure, highlighted key achievements including the acquisition and development of a permanent site for the branch and the induction of new fellows and associate members.
“So I took that office as a challenge to make my own mark and improvement concerning this branch, by the special grace of God , today within these two years, we have brought in some of our members that were elevated in their career and of course have their induction ceremony as fellow members of these institutions, and 31 of our members where also inducted as associate members of the Nigerian institutions of estate surveyors and valuers
“By the special grace of God we have our own permanent site and the past chairmen that lay the foundation of ensuring that the government gave us allocation and of course we process the certificate of occupancy and we felt that we have to continually improve on these projects, To the glory of God , we’re not there yet , but we now have a place where we hold our monthly meetings, a place that all the people that belong to this gateway can be proud of” he said.
In his acceptance speech, the new chairman, ESV Adeolu Emmanuel Adejimi, expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to lead and pledged to build on the legacy of his predecessors.
He outlined key focus areas of the new administration, including professional development, stakeholder engagement, technological adaptation, and internal unity.
“As I assume this role, I am acutely aware of the challenges and responsibilities ahead. The landscape of Estate Surveying and Valuation is continuously evolving due to technological advancements, economic fluctuations, and regulatory changes.
“Hence, our commitment to professional development and continuous learning must remain a priority. We will work diligently to provide our members with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate these dynamics effectively.
“I am also excited to announce that our administration will focus on enhancing collaboration within our branch and with stakeholders. By fostering strong partnerships with government agencies, educational institutions, and other professional bodies, we can gain invaluable insights and create opportunities that benefit not just our members but the broader society in Ogun State.
“As we embark on this new chapter, I urge you all to actively participate in our programmes, share your ideas, and engage with one another.
“The strength of our institution lies in our unity and collective effort. Together, we can make a significant difference not only in the lives of our members but also in the communities we serve.
“Let us be reminded that our profession carries a great burden of responsibility. We must strive to be an exemplars of ethical conduct and advocates for best practices.
“Let us work tirelessly to elevate the standards of our profession and contribute to the development of a sustainable environment for future generations” he said.
He further emphasized the need for members to embrace ethical practices and strive for higher standards in the profession.
