The Grassroots Mobilization for Tinubu (GMT) has officially inaugurated its Ogun State executives as part of its nationwide campaign strategy to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony held at Chief Olusegun Osoba residence, Ibara Abeokuta on Thursday, the Director General of GMT, Hon. Alhaji Bisi Yusuf, expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership.
Bisi Yusuf who was represented by Coordinating Director (Inter-State) of GMT Ambassador Oladipupo Gabriel noted that the Nigerian economy is witnessing steady progress under the current administration.
“Nigeria is improving. When former Presidents Jonathan and Buhari were in power, only a few were benefiting. Nigerians were not as productive as they are today. Now, everyone is working, and although people are complaining, I don’t see anything bad in Nigeria,” he said.
He assured that unemployed youths would be gainfully employed under the ongoing economic reforms of the Tinubu administration.
In his address, the GMT Director General for Ogun State Dr. Akeem Awolesi, acknowledged past shortcomings in the 2023 presidential elections and emphasized the need to mobilize stronger grassroots support ahead of 2027.
“Our goal this time is to bring more people out in support of President Tinubu. We are spreading our gospel to towns, cities, and rural communities. We are reaching the downtrodden to ensure every vote counts,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, Chief Wale Ohu, a former director at the Presidential Campaign Council for Grassroots Mobilization in 2023, emphasized the importance of continuity in leadership.
“Asiwaju Tinubu has laid a solid foundation to rebuild Nigeria across economic, political, and social sectors. What he needs now is a second term to complete what he has started,” Ohu said.
He noted that while political grievances are natural, the party has mechanisms in place to manage internal disputes and maintain unity.
He dismissed opposition coalitions as lacking ideological cohesion, describing them as mere alliances of convenience bound for failure.
“Grievances are natural in politics, what we are now look for is what’s the right mechanism to hold such grievances not to metamorphose to something that can destroy the party. Party itself has a structure that can take care of grievances.
“Coalition is just the combination of people that are desperate to have power, it will go nowhere, because the fundamental thing you must have in mind before you can bring yourself together is that you have a commo purpose, you have a common ideology, but the common ideology that they have is just for them to get to power.
“To them you could see it’s confusion, when there’s a confusion in a coalition the end is destruction”.
Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant Hon. Ejalonibu Amodu, to the Lagos State Governor on Housing, described the event as GMT’s first general meeting in Ogun State.
He stated that the group aim is to mobilize support across all communities in the state.
“This launch in Ogun State marks the beginning of our activities across every nook and cranny. The only product we are selling is the re-election of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” he declared.
Amodu encouraged Nigerians to remain patient, assuring that the reforms of President Tinubu , from fuel subsidy removal to infrastructure investments are designed to create long-term benefits for the common man.
“Asiwaju is a sellable project because of what he has done I just two years of his administration. Everybody is saying we are hungry , we are telling them to be calm, because a lot of things have been done from the issue of fuel subsidy, to infrastructure, everything that surrounds what Asiwaju is doing is for the future and it’s for the common man to enjoy” he said.
