In a statement released to newsmen on Thursday, Aare Fajimi congratulated Muslims on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, and urged them to reflect deeply on the spiritual significance of the festival which centers around faith, obedience to divine will, and selflessness.
“The Eid season is not only a time for festivities and sharing meat, but also a time to renew our commitment to the virtues of obedience, piety, and kindness.
“It reminds us of Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah and the supreme lesson that no sacrifice is too great when done in service to God and humanity,” he said.
Aare Fajimi encouraged well-to-do Muslims to show compassion to the poor, widows, orphans, and vulnerable members of society by giving generously during and beyond the Eid celebration.
He emphasized that acts of charity, especially during sacred periods, strengthen communal bonds and reflect the true spirit of Islam.
He also stressed the importance of unity among Muslims and other religious groups in the country, saying that peaceful coexistence and mutual respect are essential for national development.
According to him, “Our diversity should be a source of strength and not division. This season offers an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to peace, unity, and tolerance.”
Fajimi appealed to Nigerians to continue to pray for the nation’s leaders and support efforts aimed at improving the socio-economic wellbeing of the people.
He also advised Muslim pilgrims currently performing the Hajj in Saudi Arabia to remain focused on their spiritual obligations and pray fervently for the peace and progress of Nigeria.
“Let their devotion and spiritual sacrifices be a blessing to their families, our communities, and our beloved country,” he added.
Aare Fajimi wish all Muslims a peaceful, joyful, and spiritually fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration. He prayed for Allah’s continued guidance, protection, and blessings upon all families, communities, and the nation at large.
