In a historic moment for the people of Owu Akinale, Chief Oluseyi Adediran received the blessings and support of prominent leaders and traditional rulers, including former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the Olowu of Owu, in preparation for his seclusion rites (Ipebi) as the newly elected monarch of the community on Thursday.
Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, a highly respected son of Owu, expressed deep appreciation for the past sacrifices made by Chief Oluseyi Adediran.
He commended his dedication and encouraged him to intensify his efforts now that he has assumed a more significant leadership role.
According to Obasanjo, the entire Akinale community are watching with great expectations, and he assured the new monarch of their unwavering support.
“We are here for you any day, any time. Our doors remain open for suggestions, support, and assistance. The entire Owu family is proud of this new chapter,” Obasanjo affirmed during a visitation by the new monarch.
In his visit to the Olowu of Owu kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola ,commended all those who had contested for the throne alongside Chief Adediran.
He appreciated the warrant chiefs of Akinale and the entire people of the community for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere throughout the process.
Olowu emphasized the unique unity and peaceful coexistence that exists in Akinale. He noted that while some towns still face internal conflicts, the unity in Akinale gives him great joy and confidence in the future of the community under the new monarch.
Olowu offered prayers and royal blessings to Chief Oluseyi Adediran as he prepared to enter the sacred rites of Ipebi.
He charged him to replicate the same energy and commitment he shows towards Owu matters in his reign in Akinale, urging him to build on the peace and cooperation currently enjoyed in the community.
The also Olowu directed the chiefs of Akinale to observe the activities of Aloje, the custodian of Ipebi rites .
Also speaking during the royal gathering, Chief Abdul-Lateef Olanrewaju Oseni, the Obamaja of Owu Kingdom, also expressed his excitement over the emergence of Chief Oluseyi Adediran.
He described the moment as one of great joy during the reign of the current Olowu and revealed that the new monarch would undergo a 9-day seclusion period in Ipebi.
The chairman of the kingmakers in Akinale, Chief Alfred Adegboyega Idowu, pledged his loyalty and total support for the newly elected monarch.
He expressed confidence in Chief Adediran’s ability to lead with wisdom, dignity, and vision, assuring the people of Akinale a prosperous future under his rule.
