Factional Chairman of the Ogun State chapter of People's Democratic Party Hon. Sikirulah Ogundele Ph.D is set to move to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), accusing 2023 governorship candidate, Hon. Ladipupo Adebutu of turning PDP to a branch of the Kensington Adebutu Foundation in the State
Hon. Ogundele announcing his planned defection to APC in a statement, described the 2027 governorship ambition of Adebutu as insensitive and insult to the collective intelligent of Ogun electorates considering the fact that the incumbent governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun is from the same ward in Ikenne Local Government Area within Ogun East Senatorial District of the State
"For Adebutu to be aspiring to run for the 2027 PDP governorship ticket, is taking Ogun voters to be gullible, Governor Dapo Abiodun is from the same Iperu-ward 3 in Ikenne Local Government Area within the Ogun East Senatorial District. People are wise enough and not gullible to vote for someone whose elder brother will be completing the two terms of eight years as governor in 2027", he stated
Ogundele also blamed his planned defection on the unresolved crisis within the party at the National Secretariat in Abuja , claiming those running the party are now transactional leaders
"The party leaders are not managing the crisis properly and people are leaving PDP because of the uncertainty in the party ", he added
According to him, nothing is left in PDP to survive 2027 general election in Nigeria, going by the leadership crisis rocking the party over the issue of National Secretary, where two people, Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Sunday Udeh-Okoye are laying claim to the position, making it very difficult for PDP to hold its National Executive Council meeting
"If Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the immediate former governor and running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential election, Ifeanyi Okowa could move with the entire structure of the party in Delta State to APC and Governor Umo Eno in Akwa-Ibom State did the same, who is Ogundele not to move to APC now that the PDP is in shamble ", he concluded
