Nigerian Army kicks off 2024 Inter-Brigade competitions in Ogun

The General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Major General Muhammad Usman, has declared open the 81 Division Inter-Brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Competition 2024. 

The event, which kicked off at Alamala Barracks on Monday, aimed to enhance leadership traits, organizational ability, and initiative among WOs/SNCOs in the Nigerian Army.

The competition will feature events such as Map Reading, Combat Swimming, Obstacle Crossing, and Weapon Handling/Range Classification, and is expected to promote spirit-de-corps among troops. 
Major General Usman urged participants to abide by the rules and exhibit sportsmanship, emphasizing the importance of training in achieving military professionalism.

He expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TA Lagbaja, for his support and enabling environment, and assured him of the division's commitment to executing all Nigerian Army Training Directives. 

The competition will run for four days, and it is expected to be a hitch-free event.

His words "The event is aimed at improving leadership traits, organizational ability and the initiative of WOs/SNCOs in the NA. 

"The competition will also promote spirit-de-corps among troops. Towards this end, some events have been outlined to test competing formations within the Division. Some of these events which would be rigorously competed for within the next 4 days includes; Map Reading, Combat Swimming, Obstacle Crossing and Weapon Handling/Range Classification. Thus, I am glad that this year's competition is being hosted by HQ 35 Arty Bde on behalf of the Division.
"At this stage, it is also pertinent to state that this year's Inter- Brigade WOs/SNCOs Competition is expected to be better than the previous one. This is considering the efforts put in place towards achieving this purpose. 

" I want to urge all participating troops to put in their best so as to derive the maximum benefits from the competition and also make your formations proud. The only way you can do this is by abiding by the rules and regulations guiding the competitions and to also exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship.

"May I also remind our contestants that globally, training has remained a fundamental precursor for every battle winning Army. This is premised on the fact that troops performance in peace and war is a direct result of the qualities of their training. Also, training remains a veritable tool for enhanced military professionalism. "
In his remarks, the Commander 35 Artillery Brigade Alamala, Brigadier General Muhammad Aminu welcomed participants to the 81 Division Inter-Brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Competition 2024. 

He emphasized the importance sportsmanship, urging participants to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the competition. 

He also encouraged them to derive maximum benefits from the exercise and enjoy their stay in Alamala Barracks.

"I enjoin you all to abide by all the rules and regulations guiding the competitions as well as exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship. 

' We have also made adequate administrative arrangement including provision of accommodation to make your stay here comfortable. 
" I therefore urge you all to go beyond your comfort zones in order to derive the maximum benefits from the competition. I know you have all been training very hard in the various events for the competition and looking forward to this period. 

"I want you all to put in your best and compete in the best way you can. However, you should be mindful of your safety and the safety of your colleagues throughout the period of the competition. You must also remain discipline and avoid unnecessary movement to town particularly at night."
