May Day: Workers Calls for Improved Welfare, End to Petrol Scarcity

Comrade Famuyiwa Abiodun Sharafa, Secretary of the Medical and Networker Union, FMC branch, Abeokuta, and Hon. Lanre Jaji, Speaker of the People's Parliament, Leme Abeokuta, have called on the government to prioritize workers' welfare and address the ongoing petrol scarcity.

Speaking at the Workers' Day celebration in Abeokuta, Comrade Sharafa appreciated the government and union leaders for their efforts but expressed concern over the suffering of citizens and workers since the inception of the current government. 

He appealed to the government to implement the promised new minimum wage and address the petrol scarcity, which has been ongoing for five days.

Hon. Lanre Jaji commended the Nigeria Labour Congress, particularly the chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress Ogun State Comrade Hamed Benco, for their efforts in Ogun State.

 He emphasized the importance of workers' welfare, saying, "Each government must continue to encourage workers with a good welfare package. 

"Workers are the engine room of the economy, and they must be well-treated and dedicated to achieve better results."

"Despite the petrol scarcity, the Workers' Day celebration was well-attended by workers from the 20 local government areas of Ogun State."

 The event highlighted the significance of recognizing workers' contributions to Nigeria's development and provided an opportunity for workers to voice their concerns and demands to the government.

Comrade Sharafa, who is also aspiring to become the chairman of the Medical and Networker Union, FMC branch, urged the government to do the needful to address workers' plight and ensure a better future for all.
