Odun Omo Olowu 2026: Zee 1 For Yayi Founder Harps on Cultural Preservation

The founder of Zee 1 For Yayi, Amb. Dr. Azeez Ayomikun Ibrahim, has attended the Odun Omo Olowu festival, reaffirming the importance of preserving Yoruba cultural heritage and promoting unity among the people.

Ibrahim’s participation in the festival underscored his interest in cultural activities that bring communities together, celebrate their history and promote the rich traditions of the Yoruba people.

The Odun Omo Olowu festival is one of the cultural celebrations that provide an opportunity for indigenes, traditional institutions and visitors to appreciate the customs and heritage of the community.

Speaking on the significance of the festival, Ibrahim said cultural celebrations remained an important part of the people’s identity and should be preserved for future generations.

He said, “Our culture is our identity, and we must do everything possible to preserve it. The Odun Omo Olowu festival provides an opportunity for us to celebrate our heritage, promote unity and pass our cherished traditions on to the younger generation.”

The Zee 1 For Yayi founder also stressed the need for young people to take a greater interest in traditional festivals, noting that cultural awareness could strengthen their connection to their roots.

According to him, traditional festivals should not be viewed merely as social gatherings but as platforms for promoting community development, unity and peaceful coexistence.

“Traditional festivals remind us of where we come from and the values that bind us together. I encourage our youths to participate in these celebrations, learn from our traditions and contribute to preserving our cultural heritage,” he added.

Ibrahim further noted that cultural festivals could provide opportunities to promote local tourism and showcase the cultural richness of communities to visitors from within and outside Ogun State.

He maintained that preserving cultural heritage was a collective responsibility requiring the support of traditional rulers, community leaders, government institutions, youth organisations and other stakeholders.

The founder’s attendance at the festival also highlighted the role of community participation in sustaining cultural traditions and strengthening relationships among people.

He called on residents and indigenes to continue supporting cultural events that promote peace, unity and the development of their communities.

Ibrahim reiterated that celebrating Yoruba heritage remained an important way of honouring the past while inspiring younger generations to preserve the traditions and values that define their identity.
