The meeting was aimed at strengthening collaboration among stakeholders and proffering lasting solutions to emerging security challenges, with a view to sustaining peace, protecting lives and property throughout Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
In his address, Amb. Ogunsola emphasized that peace and security remain the foundation for meaningful development and progress in every society.
According to him, “The safety of lives and property of our people remains my top priority. Without peace and security, meaningful development cannot thrive. Therefore, we must all work together to ensure that Obafemi Owode Local Government remains peaceful, safe and conducive for everyone.”
Representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Orientation Agency (NOA) and other security agencies present at the meeting gave briefs on the current security situation within the Local Government Area and pledged their continued partnership with the Local Government in ensuring a safer and more secure Obafemi Owode.
Community leaders and other stakeholders also raised important security concerns and suggested practical measures towards addressing them. Some of the recommendations included strengthening collaboration through a joint task force involving relevant security agencies, improving intelligence gathering and information sharing, as well as introducing youth engagement programmes to discourage crime and other forms of social vices.
In his response, the Council boss reiterated his administration's unwavering commitment to working closely with security agencies, traditional institutions, religious bodies, community leaders and other stakeholders to ensure that Obafemi Owode Local Government continues to enjoy lasting peace and security.
Amb. Ogunsola also called on residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful and timely information that could help prevent crime.
He urged the good people of Obafemi Owode Local Government to remain vigilant and embrace the principle of “See Something, Say Something,” stressing that security is a collective responsibility and that the active participation of every resident is essential to building a peaceful and secure society.
He further enjoined miscreants who want to ferment trouble during political campaigns and forthcoming elections in year 2027 to stay clear of the council area as government will not take any security treat lightly.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by all stakeholders to strengthen cooperation, promote intelligence sharing and collectively work towards maintaining peace, security and sustainable development across Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
