The party delegation, led by the APC Chairman in the local government, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde, visited the bereaved family on Tuesday to commiserate with them over the death of the party chieftain and offer support ahead of his eight-day Fidau prayer scheduled for tomorrow Wednesday in Abeokuta.
The APC Chairman who spoke during the visit, described the death of Alhaji Ayilara as a painful loss to the APC family, saying his contributions to the development and growth of the party in Abeokuta North would not be forgotten.
She said, “We are here on behalf of the apex leaders and the entire APC family in Abeokuta North local government to condole with the family over the death of one of our leader, Alhaji Shakirudeen Ayilara, popularly known as Shanko Alhaji”.
According to her, the visit was not only to sympathise with the deceased’s family but also to demonstrate the solidarity of the party with them at a difficult period.
Akintunde added that the party leadership deemed it necessary to provide financial assistance to the family ahead of the eight-day prayer, noting that the gesture was a token of the party’s appreciation for the late leader’s service and commitment.
“We know that no amount of money can replace a loved one, but we believe that this little support will assist the family as they prepare for the eight-day prayer. We pray that Almighty Allah will grant the deceased eternal rest and give the family the strength to bear the loss,” she said.
The APC chairman also prayed for the repose of Ayilara’s soul, asking Allah to forgive his shortcomings and admit him into Al-Jannah Firdaus.
She urged the family to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived a meaningful life and contributed his quota to the political development of Abeokuta North and the APC.
Akintunde was accompanied on the condolence visit by the party’s Vice Chairman in the local government, Alhaji Ganiu Saba, and the Treasurer, Mr Seun Akinpelu, who joined her in expressing the party’s sympathy to the bereaved family.
The delegation reiterated the commitment of the APC leadership in Abeokuta North to continue to stand with the family during the mourning period, while praying for peace, comfort and divine strength for the deceased’s relatives.
