The House Of Representatves Candidate In Abeokuta South Federal Constituency under the plaform of Accord Party, Hon. Babatunde Olusanjo Dasaolu has disclosed his reason of contesting for the position to represent his people at the National Assembly.
While speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta on Wednesday, Dasaolu said he believes Abeokuta South deserves effective representation that is accessible, responsive, and genuinely connected to the people.
He said his decision is driven by a desire to contribute meaningfully to the development of his constituency.
Dasaolu submitted that he wants to use the opportunity of legislative representation to advocate for issues that directly affect his people which include economic opportunities for our youth, support for women and children, improved infrastructure, education, healthcare, and stronger community development.
According to him, politics should not simply be about occupying a position; it should be about accepting responsibility and using public office to serve the people.
While speaking on the reason for contesting under Accord party, he said he chose the party because he identifies with its emphasis on unity, progress, inclusion, and people-oriented leadership.
He said the people of Abeokuta South should expect representation that is accessible, accountable, and focused on the real needs of Local Government, urging them to rally behind him.
"If elected, my responsibility will be to listen to our people, understand their priorities, and effectively take those issues to the National Assembly. I will focus on constructive legislative work, effective oversight, advocacy for projects and policies that can improve the lives of our people, and ensuring that our constituency receives appropriate attention within the federal system.
"I particularly want to see greater opportunities for our young people, stronger support for women, improved educational opportunities for our children, better infrastructure, and initiatives that can expand economic opportunities within our communities.
"But I also want to be clear: I will not make unrealistic promises simply to win an election. I will tell our people what is possible, work diligently to achieve it, and remain accountable for my actions.
"Above all, people should expect a representative who will listen, engage, speak for them, and remain accessible after the election—not only during the campaign. That is the kind of representation I want to build for Abeokuta South and The People.
While speaking on his reason of chosing Accord party, He said "I believe Accord provides an opportunity to engage with our people across different communities and backgrounds and build a representative agenda around their needs.
"Ultimately, my aspiration is bigger than a political title. It is about service, representation, accountability, and contributing to a better future for the people of Abeokuta South Federal Constituency"
He maintained that he believes he will win under the platform of Accord party, saying that Osun has has shown that Accord can become a significant political platform when the party builds strong grassroots structures and connects with the people.
Dasaolu informed that In Ogun State, the party is also working to strengthen its structures and engage communities across the state.
He submitted that elections are decided by the people, and it would be inappropriate for him to predict the outcome, saying that he is sure that the victory is for the party.
" Our responsibility is to present our candidates, communicate our vision, engage the electorate, and earn their support through our programmes and commitment to service. We are focused on building a strong and credible Accord presence in Ogun State as we approach 2027 Election" he concluded
