The Central Coordinate Movement (CCM), a major support group backing the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, has commended Yoruba Nation advocate, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, for launching the Iru Ekun Security Network in Ogun State.
The group described the initiative as a significant step towards strengthening community security and supporting existing efforts to protect lives and property across Yoruba communities.
CCM State Chairman, Alhaji Chief Taiwo Elewide, popularly known as Akile, gave the commendation on Wednesday while reacting to the launch of the security outfit, saying the initiative demonstrated Igboho’s commitment to the safety and wellbeing of the people.
Elewide said community-based security initiatives could complement the efforts of conventional security agencies, particularly in addressing emerging security challenges at the grassroots.
He noted that security remained a collective responsibility, stressing the need for traditional institutions, community leaders, youth organisations and government agencies to work together to ensure peaceful communities.
The CCM chairman also congratulated Morufdeen Olaitan, the Commandant of the Iru Ekun Security Network in Ogun State, describing his appointment as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the security and protection of communities across the state.
Elewide urged Olaitan and members of the security network to operate within the law and maintain professionalism, discipline and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.
He said the initiative would be more effective if it maintained close cooperation with the police and other recognised security agencies, rather than operating as a replacement for them.
The CCM chairman further commended traditional rulers and community stakeholders who had continued to support initiatives aimed at promoting peace and security in Ogun State.
He urged residents to provide useful information to security agencies and avoid taking the law into their own hands, noting that effective intelligence-sharing remained critical to preventing crime.
Elewide congratulated Igboho and Olaitan once again, expressing optimism that the Iru Ekun Security Network would contribute positively to efforts to improve security across communities in Ogun State.
