The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 8 in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State, has held a strategic youth meeting aimed at strengthening unity among members, promoting grassroots mobilisation and enhancing the party’s preparedness ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the meeting on Friday held in Abeokuta, the Ward 8 Youth Leader, Comrade Abubakar Abdul Wahab, urged members to remain united and avoid actions capable of creating division within the party. He said the ward had a strong bond among its members and should continue to protect the spirit of brotherhood. “The members of this ward love one another and we must stay united. Don’t let us fight each other,” he appealed.
Wahab also clarified that his responsibility was to represent all youths in the ward rather than any particular support group. According to him, every member of the ward deserves equal attention and opportunity. “I’m not a group youth leader; I’m a ward youth leader. What everybody deserves will be given to them in the ward,” he stated.
The Ward Chairman, Hon. Taofeek Agbogunleri, said the meeting would become a regular platform for interaction, consultation and mobilisation among members. He explained that continuous engagement was necessary to strengthen the party at the grassroots. “We will have this meeting from time to time because it is important for us to come together, discuss and move the ward forward,” he said.
Agbogunleri further encouraged every member of Ward 8 to identify with the various support groups working for the emergence of Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the APC governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 elections .
“Each member of the ward should join various groups supporting Senator Olamilekan Yayi ahead of the 2027 election,” he said.
He stressed that the responsibility of ensuring Yayi’s emergence could not be left to a few individuals, urging the youths to take the mobilisation effort seriously. “At the moment, we youths must work together to ensure Senator Yayi emerges,” Agbogunleri declared.
Also speaking, the APC Youth Leader in Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Kabir Ayoola, pledged to promote transparency and fairness in his dealings with youths across the various wards. He urged young members to continue attending ward youth meetings, describing such gatherings as essential to effective grassroots organisation.
Ayoola described Senator Yayi as a leader who combines promises with action, saying, “Yayi is talk and do. Our incoming governor is a progressive man to the core.” He added that he had confidence in the leadership of the Ward 8 youth leader, saying, “I really have trust in the youth leader of this ward.”
In his remarks, the Assistant Ward Youth Leader, Durogbade Adewale, appreciated party leaders and members for their support and participation in the meeting. He described the ward meeting as important to the growth of the party and urged members to make regular attendance a priority.
Wale expressed appreciation to the APC Chairman in Abeokuta North, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde, Hon. Olayiwola Ojodu, Dr. Watt, Hon. Abiodun Animasahun, Hon. Abioye Monsuru, Hon. Waheed Komolafe, Hon. Monsuru Odewole and other party leaders for their contributions and support to the ward. He said continued cooperation between the leadership and grassroots members would further strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
