In a statement signed by the National President, Dapo Fasola, and made available to journalists on Thursday, the group described the action of the monarchs as courageous, historic, and a demonstration of commitment to the collective interest of Ogun West.
According to the statement, the monarchs, led by the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, stood united and declared that there would be no compromise on the choice of candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The group added that the development has proven that the traditional institution remained the conscience of the people.
The Ogun Youths Pacesetters noted that the rejection of money by the royal fathers has sent a strong signal that the era of using inducement to decide the political future of Ogun West is over. Fasola said the youths of the zone are proud of the stance and will replicate the same resolve at the grassroots.
The group further stressed that for several decades, Ogun West has been marginalized in the governorship equation of the state. It added that the monarchs’ unanimous endorsement of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, reflects the yearning of the people for equity, fairness, and inclusion in 2027.
Fasola described Senator Adeola as a detribalized leader whose contributions to Ogun West, including the provision of mini buses for students and numerous empowerment programmes, have endeared him to the people. He said the senator has the capacity, experience, and goodwill to deliver good governance to the entire state.
The youth body urged other stakeholders across the three senatorial districts to emulate the unity displayed by Yewa monarchs.
It concluded by calling on youths to shun violence, resist inducement, and support a candidate who can truly liberate Ogun West and reposition Ogun State for greater development.
