The assurance was given during a meeting on Tuesday between APC ward leaders and the former PDP members, where discussions centered on integration, party cohesion and preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the meeting, APC leader in the ward and Ogun State board member, Hon. Fakorede Idowu, said the visit was aimed at strengthening unity and formally welcoming the defectors into the APC family.
Leading a delegation of ward leaders, Fakorede met with the new members and leaders of the PDP to formally welcome them and assure them of full inclusion within the party.
“We came here as leaders of Ward 13 to meet with those who recently decamped from the PDP to our party, the APC. We have assured them that we are ready to carry them along in everything we are doing because politics is not what one person can do alone. Unity is the key to our success, and we are determined to preserve the peaceful atmosphere our ward is known for,” Fakorede said.
He described Ward 13 as one of the most peaceful wards in Abeokuta North, stressing that the integration of the new members would further strengthen the party ahead of future elections. According to him, the APC remains committed to inclusiveness and collective progress.
Fakorede also urged the defectors to join hands with existing party members in ensuring victory for all APC candidates during the 2027 general elections.
“We appeal to everyone to work together and vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the next Governor of Ogun State, Senator Shuaib Salisu for Ogun Central, Hon. Olumide Osoba for the House of Representatives and Hon. Babatunde Tella for the Ogun State House of Assembly. We are not going to leave anyone behind, and they have all agreed to support the APC,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the defectors, former PDP Secretary in Ward 13 and one of the leaders of the decampees in Abeokuta North, Oluwasesan Ogundeji, expressed appreciation to the APC leadership for the warm reception and assurances of inclusion.
“Our leaders have discussed with us and assured us that we will be carried along in whatever the APC is doing at the ward level. We are happy with the understanding reached today, and we are fully committed to working for the APC because that is what is in our minds,” he said.
He assured the leaders of their support for the APC and its candidates in the forthcoming elections. “We assure our leaders that we will work tirelessly towards the emergence of all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections. We are united and ready to contribute to the growth and success of the party,” he said.
Other APC leaders present at the meeting were: Hon. Ayo Oluajo, Hon. Bankole Toyin, the councillor representing Ward 13, Hon. Funke Obasami, Hon. Kabir Yusuf, the Ward Chairman, Hon. Afolabi , Hon Idowu Abegunrin, Hon. Abel Olusegun, Mr Akande Olaegbe, Akeem Ogundeji, among others.
