Speaking during the inauguration on Saturday, the Deputy Director General in charge of the All APC Support Groups Council in the South-West, Hon. Adewale Adeogun, described the coming together of Christians, Muslims and adherents of traditional religion under one platform as a positive development for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.
According to Adeogun, the movement is an organic support group established to mobilise grassroots support for the party while promoting prayers for the success of the current administration.
“It is encouraging to see Christians, Muslims and even our traditional worshippers coming together under one umbrella to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Olamilekan Adeola. Their unity is a good sign for Ogun State and for our party,” he said.
He urged members of the group to remain focused on their objectives, stressing that Nigeria needs continuous prayers and support for the present administration.
“Our country needs prayers now more than ever. We believe this movement will continue to pray for the nation and for the success of the government. They should remain united and committed to their vision,” he said.
The APC chieftain also encouraged members and supporters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the PVC as the most important instrument for political participation.
“You cannot claim to support President Tinubu or Senator Yayi without having your voter’s card. Every eligible supporter should ensure they collect their PVC because one vote can make a significant difference in the 2027 election,” he said.
Commenting on the recent rescue of abducted schoolchildren and their teachers, Adeogun said the development was a fulfilment of the President’s assurance that the victims would regain their freedom.
“We believed the President when he assured Nigerians that the kidnapped children and their teachers would be rescued. We are grateful that our prayers have been answered,” he said.
Also speaking, one of the Board of Trustees members of the movement, Alhaja Mopelola Adebiyi, expressed confidence that Senator Adeola would emerge victorious in the 2027 governorship election.
She said the movement had continued to sensitise its members on the importance of obtaining their PVCs as part of preparations for the election.
“Our members have been mobilised to collect their voter’s cards because that is the only legitimate means of electing our preferred candidate. We are confident that Senator Yayi will emerge victorious with the support of the people,” she said.
Adebiyi further urged members of the support group to remain united and avoid internal divisions.
“Our strength lies in our unity. We should continue to work together because with God all things are possible,” she said.
Another Board of Trustees member, Prophet Adeokin Moses Oladimeji, said the movement had existed for several years with the primary objective of supporting Senator Adeola’s governorship aspiration.
He commended the senator’s contributions to the state despite not yet occupying the office of governor.
“Even before becoming governor, Senator Olamilekan Adeola has demonstrated his commitment to the people through various interventions. We believe he can do even more if given the opportunity to serve as governor,” Oladimeji said.
He urged members to remain steadfast and actively participate in the electoral process by voting on election day.
“Our members must not stay at home during elections. They should come out, cast their votes and encourage others to do the same. Our weapon is not violence, our weapon is the Permanent Voter Card,” he said.
