The Arewa Community in the South West has congratulated Alhaji Umar on his appointment as the APC Co-Chairman of the Non-Indigene Committee, describing the development as a major step toward strengthening unity and inclusion within the party ahead of the Osun State gubernatorial election.
In a statement issued on behalf of the group on Monday, the Chairman of Arewa Community South West, Alhaji Shehu Usman (popularly known as SAMPAM), said the appointment has renewed hope among members of the northern community living in the region and signals greater participation in grassroots mobilization for the ruling party.
According to the group, the appointment is coming at a crucial time when stakeholders are intensifying preparations for the forthcoming governorship poll in Osun State, where the party hopes to consolidate its support base and expand its outreach to non-indigene voters.
Usman noted that the leadership of the All Progressives Congress has continued to demonstrate commitment to inclusiveness and recognition of the contributions of all groups within the party structure.
He said the appointment reflects confidence in Umar’s capacity and leadership experience.
He described Alhaji Umar as a bridge-builder who has consistently championed unity, peaceful coexistence, and political participation among northern residents in the South West.
“This appointment is well deserved and a testament to his years of dedication and service to the party,” Usman stated.
Speaking further, he emphasized that the Arewa community remains committed to mobilizing support for the Renewed Hope agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO for Governor.
He added that the new role would help galvanize grassroots engagement and strengthen collaboration across ethnic and regional lines.
“We believe Alhaji Umar will bring fresh ideas, inclusiveness and renewed energy to the Non-Indigene Committee. His leadership will further unite party members and enhance participation in party activities,” Usman said.
The group also reaffirmed its readiness to work closely with APC stakeholders in Osun State to ensure victory at the polls, stressing that unity among party faithful remains critical to achieving electoral success.
Usman urged members of the Arewa Community across the South West to rally behind the party and support ongoing mobilization efforts, noting that the appointment has inspired renewed enthusiasm within the community.
