The Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele has hosted various Muslim women organizations in the state to her annual Ramadan Tafsir/Lecture at her residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
In her remarks at the programme, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele noted that women were key to nation building, saying the annual Tafsir has been an opportunity for them as Muslim women to grow in faith, to deepen their knowledge and to strengthen the bonds of sisterhood.
The Deputy Governor who said she was fulfilled that the dividends of the annual Lecture was yielding good fruits going by the testimony she's heard, informed that the main aim of the event was to address issues peculiar to women and encourage them to be better individuals, citizens, wives and mothers to their children.
While thanking everyone for coming, she emphasized that Ramadan was a period of deep reflection, spiritual growth, deepen knowledge and strengten the faith whilst fulfilling one of the core pillars of islam, imploring them not to undermine their capabilities encouraging them to continue to uplift each other and participate actively in the decision making of who emerges their leaders as the national election approaches.
Also speaking the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Mrs Mariam Oloko praised the virtues of convener of the programme, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, calling her selfless, highly approachable and characterized by peity, calling on the women to emulate her person by remaining grounded in the deen.
In their separate goodwill messages at the lecture, representatives of the different Muslim women organizations all agreed that women needed to be more up and doing in their endeavors praying that Allah bless the Deputy Governor for making the lecture a yearly one and for particularly ensuring that the importance of women to the community and country at large is recognized.
In his sermon at the Tafsir themed Muslim woman journey in modern times, Sheik Nurein Rabiu, Imam Governors office Secretariat mosque, said said that the importance of women cannot be over emphasized, noting that it is those who undervalue the gender, that has created the erroneous belief that Islam relegates them.
He stressed that even in the Holy book, a complete Surah is dedicated to extolling the virtues of women concluding that this just shows how highly placed Almighty Allah, the all knowing, all seeing and all powerful has placed the status of women in Islam.
The muslim cleric who said the worth of the womenfolk is not defined by societal expectations but by Allah, charged them to be pious, religious as well as upright in their doings, admonishing those of them in positions of authority to manage such roles with kindness fairness and justice to all while being respectable to their spouses and commitment to their homes building.
