Soyoola disclosed this on Thursday in a congratulatory message issued to newsmen in Abeokuta.
He described Chief Obasanjo as an exceptional statesman whose leadership and contributions have played a significant role in shaping Nigeria’s democratic journey and national development.
The senatorial hopeful noted that the elder statesman has remained a symbol of courage, patriotism, and visionary leadership, adding that his dedication to national unity and progress continues to inspire generations of Nigerians.
According to Soyoola, Obasanjo’s legacy as a former military Head of State and later a democratically elected President remains a remarkable chapter in Nigeria’s history, particularly for his commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and promoting peace within and outside the country.
He said, “On this special occasion of your 89th birthday, I celebrate your life of service, sacrifice, and statesmanship. Your contributions to the growth of Nigeria and your commitment to the welfare of humanity remain invaluable.”
Soyoola further prayed for continued strength, wisdom, and good health for the elder statesman, noting that his experience and counsel remain vital to the nation’s leadership and the younger generation of political actors.
He therefore urged Nigerians, particularly the people of Ogun State, to continue to draw inspiration from Obasanjo’s life of service, while wishing the former President many more years in good health and fulfillment.
