Obafemi Owode Local Government has presented the Year 2026 Budget of N18,035,215,836.40 ( Eighteen Billion, Thirty-five Million, Two Hundred and Fifteen Thousand, Eight Hundred and Thirty-six Naira, Forty kobo) to the Legislative Council, tagged "Budget of Sustainable Expansion and Economic Development".
Addressing the Legislative Council, Amb. Adesina 'Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, Executive Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government reviewed the performance of the previous year budget, in reality to the approved budget despite the national economic adjustment, rising public expectations, and committed prudent financial management.
He stressed the high performance of his administration in implementing several notable projects and programmes, as he facilitated various local and international partnership that fostered growth and development in the local government area.
Specifically, our administration successfully facilitated partnership with the Government of Dover, United State of America, the Izindonga Group of South Africa and other local partners to further enhance development initiative for the benefit of our communities.
Notably, these efforts has led to several prestigious awards and recognitions both locally and internationally including, National Award as one the of best Local Government in Nigeria by the Local Government Chairmen Merit Award, LOGMA 2025 for excellence in grassroot leadership and development, and ranked third best performing Local Government Chairman in Nigeria for quality leadership, service delivery and accountability.
Amb. Ogunsola, FCPA reiterated his commitment in the development of Obafemi Owode Local Government as the Year 2026 Budget has been duly prepared to reflect the developmental aspirations of the people and the economic realities of our time, as its reflected our collective aspiration to move the local government to greater heights of progress, prosperity and inclusive development.
" We acknowledged the challenges posed by the revenue limitations and increasing public expectations, as our determination to accelerate growth and sustainable development remains strong", he stated.
He assured of the strict budget implementation, responsible resource utilization and effective monitoring mechanism in ensuring every naira allocated translate into tangible benefits for all the communities in the council area.
" This budget is a strategic roadmap designed to accelerate infrastructure delivery, improve institutional capacity, expand economic opportunities and promote the overall quality of life of our people", he concluded.
Council boss further commended and appreciated His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, CON for his visionary leadership and transformative infrastructural initiatives across Ogun State, particularly within Obafemi Owode Local Government, as the council area has benefited greatly from the developmental agenda of the Governor including, Siun-Ofada-Mowe Road project, a major economic corridor that has enhanced mobility, trade and connectivity within our axis. 'In furtherance, our administration has complemented the effort by extending the road intervention to Ogidan-Geleodun Road, thereby expanding access and improving socio-economic activities in adjoining communities'said the chairman.
He therefore sought the co-operation of the Leader and Honourable members to adequately give the Year 2026 Appropriation Bill a speedy passage to enable its full implementation in the overall interest of our people, as he encouraged joint effort, shared responsibility in building a united, forward-looking Obafemi Owode Local Government that promote growth, development and prosperity for all.
Hon. Saheed Ariyibi, Leader of the Legislative Council, Obafemi Owode Local Government has assured the speedy passage of the this Year 2026 Appropriation Bill after he received the draft budget presented by the Executive Chairman, Amb. Ogunsola FCPA.
He further commended the harmonious relationship existing between the Legislative and Executive arm of Government in Obafemi Owode Local Government, as the interest of Councillors in their various constituencies are well attended to without delay.
