The concerns were contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the State Administrative Council (SAC) meeting of the union, held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the JUSUN Secretariat, Okejigbo, Abeokuta.
In the communiqué, the union commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for the payment of Christmas bonuses and the consistent, timely payment of workers’ salaries across the state.
The council also lauded the Chief Judge of Ogun State, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Arinola Dipeolu, as well as the President of the Ogun State Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Adebisi Olusola Femi-Segun, for the Christmas cash gifts extended to judiciary staff and for their worker-friendly policies.
However, the SAC expressed strong dissatisfaction with the continued delay in the payment of new salaries to judiciary staff who were promoted, noting that the issue has persisted since January 2025.
The union further lamented the failure of the Ogun State Government to review the Consolidated Judiciary Staff Salary Structure (CONJUSS) allowances, despite gentleman agreements previously reached, as well as formal correspondence from the union and the Chief Judge of the state.
JUSUN also described the retention of judiciary funds by the state government as illegal and unconstitutional, citing Section 121 (3) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
According to the union, the action undermines the financial autonomy and effective functioning of the judiciary.
In a show of solidarity, the SAC declared its support for the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ogun State Branch, in its advocacy for local government autonomy, which it said would enhance development at the grassroots level.
The council, however, emphasized its readiness to engage the state government in further dialogue on the issues raised, in the spirit of collective bargaining, with a view to preventing industrial unrest.
