The honour, which came with a State Ambassador Award, was presented by the Ogun State Coordinator of CONYSSA, Aare Commander Oluwafemi Akinrombi, during a brief ceremony held at the Nuj Secretariat , Iwe Iroyin Abeokuta on Wednesday.
While presenting the award, Aare Commander Akinrombi commended Comrade Olanrewaju for his remarkable contributions to journalism and security advocacy in Ogun State.
He noted that the NUJ Chairman’s efforts in curbing vices such as “hookup” and promoting responsible journalism have contributed significantly to youth reorientation and crime reduction in the state.
“Based on your remarkable achievements in journalism, especially in Ogun State, and your role in reducing crime rates, we are decorating you today as our State Ambassador.
“Your dedication to fighting social vices and promoting safety among youths is commendable”.
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju expressed appreciation to CONYSSA for the recognition, describing the honour as a call to greater service.
“I feel extremely honoured and I thank Almighty God for the life, wisdom, and courage he has given us to tackle security issues head-on.
“As Chairman of Ogun NUJ, by the grace of God, our members who are purveyors of truth and gallant officers in the fight against crime and insecurity will continue to give our full support to CONYSSA”.
Comrade Olanrewaju also dedicated the award to Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (Rtd.), the Corps Commander of Amotekun Ogun State, acknowledging that working with him as the Information and Public Relations Officer of Amotekun headquarters deepened his understanding of security management.
He further dedicated the award to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council, and to the Itesiwaju Otun Campaigners of Ogun NUJ, describing them as loyal supporters who believe in the continuity of progress within the union.
“These are the people who believe that the work we have done in the last three years must continue, and they are working seriously to ensure our success in the forthcoming NUJ election come December 11, 2025”.
