The Executive Chairman, Amb. Adesina 'Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA has reaffirmed is commitments to the staff welfare as he welcomed the Chairman, full time Commissioners and other Directors of the Local Government Service Commission in his office, Owode-Egba.
Amb. Ogunsola, FCPA thanked the Almighty God for the grace to witness the day, as he acknowledged the giants strides of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON , Governor of Ogun State for stepping up the level of infrastructural development we are enjoying in the state, as it is unprecedented and quite appreciated across the local governments.
He explained his administration's position towards making life better to the generality of the good people of Obafemi Owode Local Government, as it is necessary to bring succor to the masses, addressing problems facing the people and putting smiles on the faces of the publics.
He stressed the importance of the state wide tour of the Commission, particularly at this crucial period, as it is borne out of sincere desire to have an on the spot assessment of the conditions under which the generality of the staff of various local Governments operate. I therefore appreciate your initiative and wisdom, this is a good human resource management technique and it will go a long way at improving the morals of employees, he stated.
Furthermore, Amb. Ogunsola expressed concerns on the shortage of manpower in his local government, both junior and Senior Cadre.
He elaborated that great numbers of category of staff has disengaged from the service either through retirement, resignation, death and transfer without any replacement, which is seriously affecting the Local Government level of productivity.
He highlighted that in the whole of Obafemi Owode Local Government, we have only one Confidential Secretary who will also be retiring next year January, meaning that from January,2026 there would be no Confidential Secretary. While he enjoined the Commission to critically look into his request, as he appreciated the level of cooperation, dedication and quality discharged of the staffs responsibilities to duty.
"It is worthy to let the Commission aware of the unflinching dedication and cooperation of all Directors, Departmental heads and the entire staff, which has yielded many results, as we recently Awarded the 3rd Best Local Government in Nigeria by Nigerian National Merit Award, LOGMA 2025 in Abuja among other awards both locally and international. I am indeed satisfied with the crop of Officers in this Local Government, particularly in the area of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) ", he concluded.
Hon. Olufemi Adiro, Full Time Commissioner1, Local Government Service Commission, representing Barrister Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo, Chairman, Local Government Service Commission expressed satisfaction to the response of the Council Boss, while he maintained that the staffs should continue to be a good ambassador, as the Commission will not tolerate any form of indiscipline, truancy, lateness to work from any staff.
Similarly, the Permanent Secretary,Engr. Adenike Ogunbona further encouraged the members of staffs to be prudent and exhibit decorum in everything they are doing, as the hope of after Service starts while in active service.
She also responded to the questions from the staffs, particularly on the shortage of manpower, she assured that the Commission is equally aware and necessary move are on the way and immediately there is approval for action they will let the councils know.
She further encouraged the staffs to remain acculturated in their manners and dispositions at all time.
Earlier, Ms. Adeniji Olufunke, Head of Local Government Administration welcomed the Commission on behalf of the entire workforce of Obafemi Owode Local as they are blessed by the magnanimity and kind heart of this present leadership at the Commission.
She emphasized the level of commitments of staffs since her assumption of office at Obafemi Owode Local Government,stressed that the total staff strength of both Junior and Senior staffs stand at Two hundred and Seventy five (275) with number of Senior, One Hundred and Eighty three(183) and Junior, Ninety two(92) respectively.
She however mentioned the harmonious relationship existing between the career and the political functionaries with an assurance to maintain it at all time.
She appreciated the Commission for the prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements, as the management team has mapped out strategies to improve on Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) through the constitution of Revenue Task Force to monitor, supervise and block all Revenue leakages, which has been yielding good results, she concluded.
