The town of Ilishan-Remo was agog with celebration, as dignitaries trooped in from far and near to celebrate the 48th Annual Isanbi Day with one of its cherished daughters, Her Excellency, the First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun.
Expressing profound gratitude to dignitaries at the Ilisan High School Ground, Ikenne Local Government, for the various donations towards developmental projects in the town, the First Lady described the significance of the day as being a vibrant testament to the community's unity and peaceful coexistence, appreciating the Olofin of Ilisan-Remo, Oba Michael Olufemi Mojeed Sonuga, and the Ilisan Development Association (IDA) for their consistent efforts at enshrining sustainable development.
Appreciating the First Lady of the Federation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her continued encouragement and support, Mrs. Abiodun acknowledged the distinguished presence of the First Ladies of the six South Western States, and the First Lady of Imo State, senators and many other dignitaries, saying their presence made this particular celebration the biggest and most vibrant since inception.
The Ogun First Lady highlighted the activities of her own initiative, the Ajose Foundation, which continues to make significant strides in medical missions, health screenings, and women's health advocacy, as a testament to the community's ability to contribute to its own welfare and complement the state government's efforts.
The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, while delivering a speech at the event, underscored the crucial link between culture and development. He stated that tourism and cultural preservation were not just about honoring the past, but remained vital tools for economic growth and shared prosperity.
Represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun highlighted critical infrastructural projects like the reconstruction of the Ilishan–Ilara–Akaka–Ode Remo Road and the development of the Gateway Agro-Cargo International Airport as intentional initiatives that would enable communities like Ilisan Remo to thrive.
Also speaking, the First Lady of the Federation, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, who was represented by the wife of Ogun West Senator, Mrs. Temitope Adeola, commended the Ogun State First Lady, Oba Sonuga and the community at large for using the opportunity of the celebration to give back to the people, calling on women to embrace the Renewed Hope Initiative programme in areas of agriculture, skills acquisition and education of the girl child.
