Adesina welcomed the defectors into what he called the “progressive family,” assuring them of equal opportunities and recognition within the APC.
He commended their decision to join the party, stressing that the APC remains the only platform with the vision and structure to deliver meaningful governance at all levels.
Among those who defected were the PDP Local Government Youth Leader, Mr. Taoheed Agbaje; former Supervisor in the local government, Hon. Juwon Ogunbayo; and former Ward Chairman of Onidundu, Hon. Samuel Solanke.
Also joining the APC were Mrs. Saidat Oderinde, Women Leader of Ajura Ward; Mr. Akinbo Sheriff; Mr. R.O. Ogundayo; Mr. Riliwan Ogunbunmi; Mrs. Alima Ibrahim; Mr. Adeniyi Sogbesan; Mr. Moshood Ogunbunmi; alongside other grassroots mobilizers across different wards.
Speaking during the event on Saturday, Hon. Adesina noted that the defection signals the increasing confidence of opposition members in the APC-led government.
“You are welcome into the progressive family. Here, we are united by service, not personal ambition. The APC is open to all who genuinely want to work for the development of our local government and Ogun State at large,” he said.
The council boss stressed the achievements of the APC government in Obafemi Owode, including road projects, empowerment programs, and improvements in health and education.
He said the party remains focused on grassroots development and inclusive governance.
Ambassador Adesina Lanre urged the new members to quickly integrate and work hand-in-hand with existing party members to advance the development goals of the local government, promising that the APC leadership will continue to reward loyalty, hard work, and dedication.
Responding on behalf of the defectors, the former PDP Youth Leader, Taoheed Agbaje, said their decision to join the APC was not accidental. According to him, “The PDP has collapsed at the national level and also at the state level.
“Some of our leaders have already joined the APC, and that’s why we decided to join at the local level.”
He assured the Chairman and APC leadership of their total commitment to the progress of the party.
Chairman Adesina, while commending the courage of the defectors, reiterated that his door remains open for others who are willing to be part of the progressive family .
“ For the few that remain, my doors are widely open for you to join the progressive family,” he added.
