Speaking during the event on Sunday at the local government secretariat Akomoje Abeokuta , Hon. Oyegbola Sodipo described the exercise as more than a swearing-in, but a call to service and responsibility.
He emphasized that leadership requires loyalty, commitment, and dedication to delivering the dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
“This exercise is not just a ceremony, but a call to service, a reminder that leadership is about commitment, loyalty, and delivering dividends of democracy to our people.
“I charge all newly sworn-in appointees to uphold the confidence reposed in them by our dear Governor and to see their appointments as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the growth of our local government and Ogun State at large.
“Together, we will continue to strengthen the bond between government and the grassroots, ensuring that every ward in Abeokuta North feels the impact of good governance “he said.
The Chairman also stressed the need for absolute loyalty to Governor Abiodun and the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that the party remains the platform through which elections are won and development is driven.
“Loyalty is 100%. If it’s not Governor Abiodun that gave me the opportunity, will I become the chairman? There’s nothing without the party, it’s the party’s name that will be on the ballot paper, not individual names.
“That is why we give maximum attention to the party, in line with the directive of our number one leader, Prince Dapo Abiodun,” he added.
Hon. Oyegbola Sodipo also urged the appointees to replicate at the ward and polling unit levels the level of discipline, commitment, and inclusiveness demonstrated at the local government, assuring that more appointments, including that of Senior Special Assistants, would soon follow.
Earlier in her goodwill message, the APC Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde, commended Governor Abiodun for his developmental strides and lauded the Council Chairman for his leadership.
She advised the new appointees to live up to expectations, conduct themselves with dignity, and serve as worthy representatives of the Governor and the party at the grassroots.
She expressed confidence that the appointees would perform well, describing them as capable individuals who will add value to governance and strengthen the APC in Abeokuta North.
