Ogunsola Declares War on Drug Abuse in Obafemi Owode, Tasks Security Agencies on Enforcement

The Executive Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina 'Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA has charged Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency( NDLEA), Divisional Police Officers(DPO) and Department of State Services(DSS) to go after drug peddlers across the council, as the rising numbers of youths engaging in drug abuse is alarming and threats to future of our nation, as against the plans of government in securing a better life for everyone to live in.

The Council boss raised concerned on the high level of decadence, as many youths has become uncontrollable in the act of drug abuse and thuggery, which contributed to unrest in some spots of the council area.

He urged NDLEA to immediately move into action, as the local government has provided two locations for the take-off of operation in Mowe and Ibafo respectively.

Similarly, Amb. Ogunsola has commended the good work of Divisional Police Officers of Mowe, Owode, Ibafo, Redeemed Camp, Warewa for maintaining peace and other across the council area.

He recalled series of arrest and prosecution of unscrupulous element in some perceived red spots, which has brought about relative peace in the towns and villages of Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

He further requested the Traditional Rulers, Baales and religious leaders to work with security agencies by giving them necessary support in providing information that will help in flushing out the bad eggs, particularly the drug peddlers that resides in the communities, and some that makes public schools their hide out in perpetrating evil.

" this call is a national assignment which requires all security agencies to work together, as it is a directive from His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, whether federal, state or local government, we must all work together to achieve success.

He also assured of the government support in maintaining a society free of drugs and other illicit acts.

Responding, ACN.Adebunola Sokoya, Deputy Area Commander, NDLEA, Remo Command, acknowledged the importance of the assignment, coupled with the fast spreading of rate at which youths get exposed to substance these days, while she assured of their command readiness in flushing out all the hide outs of the drug peddlers.

She however promised to work with all stakeholders, as the narcotics pose serious threat to lives and existence.

HRH. Oba Qasim Alabi Alayande, Olu of Ibafo thanked the government for taking a decisive decisions to clampdown on the spread of hard drugs amongst youths in the community.

He further assured their support and cooperation with NDLEA, Police Force and other security agencies in achieving a local government free of narcotics and other related drugs abuses.
