More than 30 years ago, under his visionary leadership, Northerners across the Southwest found in Sarki Banbado’s palace not just a traditional seat of power, but a place of refuge, advocacy, and solution-oriented dialogue.
His reign ushered in an era where concerns and challenges of Northerners in Southern Nigeria were no longer ignored but were given a voice and addressed with care and diligence.
Sarki Banbado has successfully built a model of quality leadership rooted in availability, intentional empowerment, and unwavering commitment to community development.
He has remained close to the grassroots, prioritizing the welfare of the people, irrespective of their tribe or religion. His consistent engagement with the masses has solidified his reputation as a trustworthy and fatherly figure to many.
In a major cultural milestone, Sarki Banbado launched the Fulfulde Century Education Books, a remarkable initiative aimed at preserving the Fulfulde language, culture, norms, and traditions.
This effort is particularly significant for Northerners residing in Southern Nigeria, as it helps sustain their identity while promoting multicultural integration. The educational project has become a beacon of cultural pride for the Fulani community, ensuring that younger generations remain connected to their roots.
In recognition of his relentless efforts towards fostering peace and unity across diverse ethnic lines, Sarki Banbado was recently honoured with the prestigious Man of Peace Award by the Global Peace Movement International (UK).
This award acknowledges his exceptional contributions to peacebuilding through inter-ethnic mediation across Southern Nigeria. His ability to bridge divides, encourage dialogue, and inspire cooperation has earned him respect beyond his immediate community.
The Banbado dynasty, founded by Sir Muhammadu Banbado over 150 years ago, remains the cradle of the Fulani Royal House in Southern Nigeria. This storied lineage continues to shape history under the stewardship of His Royal Highness Sarki Banbado, who has upheld the values of justice, dignity, and communal harmony throughout his reign.
For over three decades, his leadership has illuminated the path of unity for Northerners living in the South, proving that traditional institutions still hold powerful potential for nation-building, inter-ethnic harmony, and grassroots development.
