This is in response to the growing economic hardship in Nigeria.
The empowerment programme which is scheduled to hold on Thursday at Ori-Omi, Abeokuta,will provide food items and cash support to over 500 beneficiaries in the local government.
The initiative comes as a direct response to the increasing level of hardship faced by Nigerians, especially those at the grassroots.
Alhaji Abebayo noted that while the Nigerian government is doing its best to stabilize the economy, it is evident that many people are still grappling with hunger and poverty.
“There’s nothing special, as you can see. The Nigerian economy is not smiling at this moment. People are hungry, people are suffering,” he said.
He emphasized that as someone who is deeply connected to the people of Abeokuta North, he understands their pain and sees it as a duty to offer support in any way possible.
“I am with them, so I know. If I can do anything to support and assist them, that’s the reason why this empowerment is coming up,” he added.
The CEO explained that while the foundation has various empowerment programmes in the pipeline, they have decided to begin with food and cash support because of its immediate impact.
He stressed the importance of tackling community needs gradually, saying, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
According to him, the initiative is not just about distributing food and money, but about showing solidarity with the people and reminding them that they are not alone.
“When you’re trying to assist people, most especially where you are, you have to carry the local government along to make everything work perfectly,” he said.
Alhaji Abebayo also assured the public that proper arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth distribution of the items, and expressed optimism that the programme will be a success.
“We have everything in order, and with God, we will be successful about it,” he concluded.
