Ogun Assembly Pays Tribute To Awujale‎, Awujako

Members of the Ogun State House of Assembly have paid glowing tribute to the departed Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebu Land Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Adetona, GCON, describing him as a monarch of class who contributed immensely to the growth of cultural values and tradition, placing Ijebu Land and the State on the world map.

Members who spoke including the Chief Whip, Omolola Barake and Minority Leader, Adeleye Lukman, at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, extolled the virtues and values of the departed monarch.

They noted that the late traditional ruler was known for being a fearless monarch, who was widely celebrated even in death.

The lawmakers urged the State Government to step up plans towards immortalizing the late monarch by renaming of some monumental public infrastructure in his name towards preserving his legacy for generations yet unborn. 

In the same vein, a Member representing Yewa North I , Hon. Adeyanju Adegoke mourned the demise of the Awujako of Ijako-Orile, Yewa-North Local Government Area of the State, Oba Mathew Ewedairo, who joined his ancestors.

Responding, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Elemide, Oludaisi celebrated the life and times of the monarchs, noting that they etched their names on the sand of time through dedicated service to their immediate community and humanity at large.
