According to the vice chancellor, Prof Ayodeji Agboola, the training became necessary as the rapidly changing educational environment, the role of administrative, executive, secretarial, accounting, procurement, and security personnel cannot be sidelined in view of the lifeblood of the system hence there is need to keep the engine running and ensure the core values of OOU are upheld in day-to-day operations.
Prof Agboola commended the leadership of the centre under the directorship of Prof Babajide Dasaolu for his has raised the bar not just in administrative and academic reforms, but in building a robust team spirit among the workforce of the Centre noting that under his direction, the CCED has become a model expected of service-oriented university units which include accountability, innovation, and integrity.
"This training is designed to reinforce your capacities, refresh your minds, and realign your operations with the broader goals of the University. We are a knowledge-driven institution, and as such, our support staff must be equipped not only with functional skills but also with ethical principles, technological competence, and a deep understanding of their strategic relevance to our mission, the VC observed."
The vice chancellor therefore charged all participants to avail themselves of the opportunity for self development as the university is poised to train and retrain its workforce regularly as this is a prerequisite for efficient service delivery.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the director, centre for continuing education, OOU, Prof Babajide Dasaolu reinforced the importance of the training at deepening the understanding of institutional processes, and reenergize staff commitment to excellence saying the centre in its dynamic nature is determined to remain a pacesetter in the University system.
Prof Dasaolu highlighted some achievements of the centre since he came on board to include provision of CCTV around the JUPEB examination halls and solar powered lights across the campus to improve and strengthen the security architecture of mini campus.
Additionally, the centre in the last two years has made impacts in availability of approved results for ACP and some degree programmes up to the 2023/2024 Session – a testament to the commitment to academic integrity and efficiency.
He also listed processing and securing of JAMB admission letters for 2024/2025 weekday Part-Time students and regularization of previous Part-Time students’ and securing JAMB admission letters for those concerned.
There were goodwill messages from key principal officers of the institution, Dr Caleb Orukotan, Registrar; Mr Olufemi Sowunmi, Bursar while the Librarian was represented by Dr Biodun Odunewu.
