The Ogun State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board has on Wednesday 14th May, 2025 taken pilgrims on Ziyarah, a visit to historical sites associated with Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his family members, his companions and other prominent figures in Islam.
The visit which was done in medina was led by the Director of Administration of the Board, Alhaji Shehu Sofola.
While narrating the stories behind the sites, Imam Inakoju Buhari admonished pilgrims to always adhere to the laid down rules and follow the directives of their leaders.
He emphasized how deviance behaviour of some of the soldiers that followed the prophet almost caused a major setback for the struggle of Islam during the battle of uhud.
Prominent among the places visited include Masjid Quba, the mosque where the Prophet accompanied by Abu Bakr stayed and prayed in Medina after emigrating from Mecca.
Others include, the mount of Uhud, where the Battle of Uhud was fought between a force of the Quraysh from Mecca and a force from the small Muslim community of Medina headed by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
Pilgrims expressed delight that they were able to see those historic sites and were privileged to pray at masjid Quba.
In his reaction, one of the pilgrims, Ismail Oloungbebe said "I want to sincerely thank God for this privileged of coming to this place to see Masjid Quba physically and to perform two rakats non-obligatory prayers."
Others say seeing the place where the martyrs of Uhud were buried and the story behind the place has brought fresh memories of what they were taught many years ago, about the battle of uhud and the significance of the battle in the stability of Islam
They commended the management of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for proper coordination and prayed for successful Hajj exercise.
