Gateway Games 2024: Aare Fajimi Lauds Governor Abiodun’s Transformational Impact on Sports Development

Aare Olumuyiwa Fajimi, has lauded the efforts of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his outstanding commitment to sports development in the state, particularly in successfully hosting the 2024 Gateway Games. 

Fajimi commended the Governor during an interview with News Channel in Abeokuta on Sunday.

Speaking on the sidelines of pre-event activities, Aare Fajimi described the Governor’s intervention in the sports sector as “visionary and transformational,” noting that the successful hosting of the Gateway Games is a testament to the administration’s dedication to youth development, sports excellence, and infrastructural advancement.

“The Gateway Games 2024 has not only placed Ogun State on the national sporting map but has also rekindled the passion for sports among our youths.

“Governor Abiodun has demonstrated that with the right leadership and planning, sports can be a tool for unity, economic growth, and youth empowerment.”

He emphasized that the transformation of various sports facilities across the state, including the remodeling of the MKO Abiola Sport Arena and upgrades to local training centres, reflects the administration’s long-term vision for sustainable sports development. 

“These investments will outlive this festival and benefit generations to come,” he added.

Aare Fajimi urged all participating athletes to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and discipline, emphasizing that sports remain a unifying factor in the country. 

He also encouraged residents of Ogun State to show hospitality and support to visitors during the festival period.

The 2024 National Sports Festival, tagged “GatewayGames 2024,” is expected to host thousands of athletes from across the 36 states and the FCT, competing in various sporting disciplines over the next two weeks.
