Elemide gave the assurance, while receiving the State Executive Members of (NUT) led by the State Chairman, Comrade Sewakanu Noah, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Elemide noted that the noble profession was being regarded for moulding other profession and therefore deserved to be accorded due recognition by all stakeholders in any developing economy.
Recalling the Tenth Assembly's efforts in the enactment and passage of the Principals General Bill, the Speaker implored them to improve on liaising with all organs of government towards evolving policies and initiatives that would be beneficial to the union, while further retaining the profession in its noble position.
Speaking on the State Contributory Pension and the placement of teachers' salaries in the first line charges, the Speaker advised the union to engage necessary stakeholders for a seamless implementation, assuring that the House would always give its necessary support.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman, Comrade Sewakanu Noah, expressed profound gratitude to the State Assembly for its steadfastness and support to the teaching workforce, especially with the passage of the Principals General bill into law and the resolution calling for the exemption of teachers from paying tolls on the Ijebu-Epe Road, noting that such gesture had reflected the genuine commitment of the legislature to the growth and development of the education sector.
The union sought the Assembly's intervention for the review of the law on contributory pensions in the State.
In another development, Speaker Elemide played host to the State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission, Mrs. Olayinka Odibe, noting that the Assembly would not rest on its oars at prioritizing the promotion and inclusion of policies that advocate for genuine human right initiatives for an all-inclusive society devoid of social class or gender discrimination.
Earlier, Odibe, highlighted the need for more legislations to promote individuals from any form of discrimination based on gender or health status, noting that the commission would improve in its community campaign to address the issues.
