In her welcome address, the Chairperson of NAWOJ Ogun, Alhaja Sekinat Salam, emphasized the significance of Ramadan as a time for spiritual renewal, charity, and unity.
She urged attendees to uphold the values of patience, peace, and compassion, stressing the need for tolerance in a diverse society.
“As we observe fasting, let us remember the importance of tolerance. Ramadan teaches us patience, to endure hardships, and to appreciate the blessings we have."
Highlighting the role of journalists, she reaffirmed NAWOJ’s commitment to amplifying the voices of marginalized groups, particularly women and children affected by social injustices.
The event featured a thought-provoking lecture titled “The Role of Women in Advancing Modest Society Amidst Social Vices: Islamic Perspectives” delivered by Alhaji Roqeeb Bello, a scholar from Daarus-Shaokany Arabic and Islamic Studies Academy, Obantoko, Abeokuta.
Alhaji Bello underscored the pivotal role of women in shaping moral and ethical values within society.
Citing Islamic teachings, he emphasized that women are fundamental to societal preservation, spiritual enlightenment, and combating social vices such as moral decay, crime, and unethical media practices.
"Women are the architects of moral transformation. By embracing Islamic teachings, intellectual leadership, and social activism, women can reshape society, eliminate vices, and cultivate a future of faith and virtue”, he added
