Under the visionary leadership of the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Surajudeen Ibrahim, popularly known as “Suri,” the event showcased remarkable achievements, including the commissioning of a borehole project and a vibrant 2024 End of the year party that brought residents, dignitaries, and stakeholders together.
Part of event was the inauguration of a borehole project at the Sabo Maternity Centre by His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Saheed Balogun Agbaje (Agbajelola I), the Olu of Ilupeju Oke-Odo Gbagura Kingdom.
The project, initiated and completed by the Sabo Stayte End of the year Planning Committee, addressed the long-standing issue of water scarcity in the community.
Reflecting on the project’s success, Mr. Ibrahim stated, “This borehole represents the dedication and vision of the Sabo Stayte 2024 End of the year party Committee."
The borehole, strategically located to benefit the maternity centre, nearby police station, and surrounding residents, was handed over to the Seriki Hausa of Egbaland, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan, during the commissioning ceremony.
Speaking at the event, His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Balogun Agbaje, expressed his gratitude to the committee and emphasized the importance of maintaining the borehole for future generations.
“This borehole is a critical resource for the community. We must ensure it is maintained to serve the people for years to come,” he said.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-Ethnic Affairs, Prince Hadi Sani, also lauded the initiative, cautioning against poor management. “Over 90% of boreholes collapse due to poor maintenance. This one must not fail,” he said.
Meanwhile, a member of the committee, Adeosun Azeez, popularly known as Father, explained the motivation behind the project. “
“Water scarcity has been a significant issue in the Sabo community. After consultations, we decided to install the borehole at the maternity centre, which will serve not only the hospital but also the police station and surrounding areas,” he said.
Adeosun also addressed the growing issue of drug abuse, urging parents to monitor their children closely. “Drug abuse is a menace in our society. I advise youths to stay away from it and focus on their future,” he added.
The highlight of the event was the football final between Premier 5Aside FC and Legendary FC. The match ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw, leading to a penalty shootout where Legendary FC emerged victorious.
The Olu of Ilupeju Oke-Odo presented the trophy to the winning team, commending their sportsmanship.
Alhaji Shehu Usman, Chairman of the Arewa Community Political Forum in Ogun State, praised both teams for their performance, noting, “It was a friendly and peaceful game. I’m proud of the players and will host the winners to show my appreciation.”
On Monday, the Sabo Stayte took centre stage, celebrating unity, progress Organized by Mr. Ibrahim and his team.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Ibrahim expressed heartfelt gratitude to the community and committee members for their unwavering support.

A major highlight of the carnival was the award ceremony honouring individuals and organizations that have contributed to the growth and peace of Sabo Stayte.

Additional outstanding individuals were also recognized for their contributions to the development and progress of the Sabo community.
Mr. Ibrahim dedicated the success of the event to his late brother, Ibrahim Nosiru, and publicly appreciated his wife for her unwavering support.
“Leadership is not a solo act; it is a collective effort. Together, we have made history in Sabo Stayte,” he said emotionally.
